  1. Check system for proper refrigerant charge
  2. Check compressor and fan amps
  3. Check and clean condenser coil
  4. Check capacitors
  5. Check contactor points
  6. Brush out electrical cabinet
  7. Check all caps and valves for seals and/or proper snug fit
  8. Check thermostat operation and mounting
  9. Check blower amps
  10. Check heat strip amps, circuit components and safeties
  1. Check/evaluate evaporator coil for buildup
  2. Check blower wheel for buildup
  3. Check all electrical connections and wires
  4. Change/wash filter
  5. Check temperature splits
  6. Lubricate all moving parts where applicable

What to Know About Air Filters

Size Matters

Filter sizes are advertised in nominal sizes, but there can be 10 filters in that nominal size and only one will fit your system. Either measure the filter or look for a model number, filter number or item number.

For example, a filter that is 16” x 25” x 5” can actually measure 15 ¾” x 24 ½” x 4 ¾”.

Thickness Matters

Air filters can range in thickness from 1” to 5”. You’ll need to know how wide your filter needs to be.

Merv Rating

Ratings go from Merv 1 “Okay” to Merv 16 “Best”. A higher Merv rating may cost more, but they last longer too.

My heating had not been working for a long time, which is fine because this is Florida and I very rarely use heat. But with all the cold recently, I decided to get it fixed. Scott’s was able to send someone out the next day to figure out the issue, and Christian came out and was able to figure out the issue. A part did need to be ordered, which was available for installation the following day. Overall, the process was very smooth and everyone was polite and professional.
