Scott’s Heating and Air Conditioning has been one of the premier AC companies in Central Florida for years. With such a competitive market for air conditioning, that’s no easy feat. Scott Moist and Kristy Moist, owners of the business, Scott’s Heating and Air Conditioning, have grown their business organically with three key priorities: reliability, affordability, and amazing customer service. Get to know what makes their philosophy special in our Q&A below.

Scott, where did your passion for AC come from?

It all started in the Navy where I completed my certification as an Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Operator. That gave me my start. But my passion isn’t just about HVAC alone.

After completing my service in the Navy, I graduated from Seminole State College’s HVAC program, which is why I am also passionate about trade education and coaching technicians to help them develop their skills. That’s what is so great about owning this business. I get to do what I love- keeping families comfortable in their own homes and I get to work with great people every day helping them improve and perfect their craft. Coaching technicians is one of my favorite parts of owning an HVAC business.

Trade education and employee development is also important to Kristy, who is my wife and our Chief Financial Officer.  She is a proud member of Bryant Women in HVAC where she serves as a mentor to other women in the industry.  Kristy has been a keynote speaker during the Bryant Women in HVAC conferences and on many of their webinars.

What does the Central Florida community mean to you?

Being community-minded is part of who we are. Central Florida is home to us, to our team, and to our families. We are proud to serve our neighbors and their home comfort needs. We founded the business with a commitment to neighborly values.

I feel that it’s important to be active in the community where we live and work. In particular, we are proud to support Seminole State College, whose education helped advance my career. Scott’s Heating & Air Conditioning sponsors the Seminole State Dream Gala each year and supports their events to help provide scholarships to deserving students in need. Kristy serves on the Foundation for Seminole State College Board of Directors and is an active member of the Foundation’s Executive and Marketing Committees.

We know you are great business owners. Are you also active members of the community? How do you get involved?

We love the Central Florida community. We are dedicated to the people here. We will continue to be active members and give back when we can because we want to see this community prosper.

Scott’s Heating & Air Conditioning has been accredited by the Better Business Bureau since 2012.  We are proud to have met their rigorous standards for consumer care and have earned A+ accreditation, and I served on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) of Central Florida’s Board of Directors for many years. The BBB provides an incredibly important service to consumers to help them make educated and informed decisions when selecting service providers.

Scott’s Heating & Air Conditioning has been a member of the Seminole County Regional Chamber of Commerce since opening.  The Chamber of Commerce recognized Scott’s Air as the New Business of the Year in 2014.  The Chamber of Commerce awards this honor annually to a small business for the company’s growth, community involvement, innovation, and history of the company.  Kristy has been a long-time member of the Seminole County Regional Chamber of Commerce and was recognized with the Spirit of the Chamber Award in 2005, and the Ambassador Team of the Year Award in 2001.

Kristy & I are both graduates of Leadership Seminole and are active in the communities where our team lives and works.  Scott’s Heating & Air Conditioning is a member of the Orlando/Central Florida Chapter of NARPM (National Association of Residential Property Managers).  We were honored to receive NARPM’s 2017 Preferred Partner of the Year Award in recognition of the support and dedication that we show our property management clients.  One of our clients even gave us the “Order the Pizza Award” for our ability to consistently deliver.  Kristy was also proud to be recognized as one of the Orlando Business Journal’s 40 Under Forty Award in 2009 as one of the business leaders in Central Florida to watch.

How has Bryant® helped you achieve high levels of customer satisfaction?

Bryant Heating and Cooling has qualified Scott’s Heating & Air Conditioning as a Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer.  Less than 5% of heating and cooling contractors in the country receive the Factory Authorized Dealer distinction, and Scott’s Air is one of the few in the Central Florida area. To qualify, dealers must meet Bryant’s rigid criteria, not only for technical expertise, but also for their business practices and customer service quality.

As a Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer, Bryant is an extension of our team.  This partnership has enabled us to order equipment when many other shops were struggling to find product due to the supply chain issues during the pandemic.  By partnering with the Factory, our shop and our customers have benefitted by being able to receive equipment, especially during the hot summer months when no one wants to wait for their new system.  And by being a Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer, Scott’s Air is backed by the Factory with a 100% satisfaction guarantee on new system installations.

Scott’s Heating & Air Conditioning is fast to embrace new technology and new products from Bryant Home Comfort.  We were excited for the launch of the new Bryant Evolution Extreme product line.  We are proud to be the first Bryant Factory Authorized Dealer in the State of Florida to install the new 284s.

Is anything exciting on the horizon at Scott’s Heating and Air Conditioning?

This summer, we’re looking forward to continued growth by taking care of customers and providing the best service we can.  We’re currently recruiting for Senior Service Techs and experienced Lead Installers to join our team.  We expand our team every spring and look forward to all the excitement and energy that a summer season brings.  So right now, we’re looking forward to meeting our new team members!

What is the number one tip you can give homeowners regarding the air conditioning system?

As simple as it may sound, change your air filter.

A clogged air filter degrades the efficiency of your HVAC system and puts extra strain on the entire unit.  Over time, a clogged filter will put more wear and tear on the HVAC unit itself. This could cause it to break down and require more frequent repairs, which isn’t good for your unit – or your wallet.

AC Service Testimonials

UPDATE 12/11/25-
Mr. Scott, the owner took the time to speak with me the day before to take ownership of the unfortunate event, and to rectify it, he personally came over to speak to me and issued a refund for the blower motor replacement to honor me being a customer and purchasing the unit from them in recent times. This speaks a lot about his integrity and customer centric approach. Even though I didn’t hear from them initially for a few months, this was a great gesture in difficult times, and I appreciate this, therefore updating my review.

STAY AWAY!!!

I purchased a new AC system from Scott’s Air & Heat in 2022 for approximately $7,000. Since then, I have already spent over $1,500 on repairs in 2 years. Despite the system having a 10-year parts warranty, I was charged $650 for labor alone to replace a blower motor—a repair that took about one hour to complete. Another reputable company quoted $500 total, including both parts and labor, for the same job.

Additionally, I was charged $258 for the same issue just a week prior, and when the problem recurred, the company billed me again instead of honoring their previous service. Attempts to reach the owner or manager for a resolution went unanswered.

Overall, I found their pricing to be excessive and their customer service severely lacking. I would not recommend this company based on my experience.
Response from the owner:Hi, Thank you for taking Scott's call today & allowing us to make this right. We're looking forward to meeting you tomorrow with the hopes of being able to earn your 5-star rating. We genuinely care for our customers and their families and want you to be 100% satisfied. Thank you again.
It’s been a long process, but Scott did call personally to make sure that our ac unit was working properly. They even upgraded to the correct size unit we needed after many repairs and issues. I appreciate the follow through and transparent communication! They will make sure to follow up and help when needed. Thank you Scott and team!!!!
Response from the owner:Hi Robin, Thank you so much for giving us an opportunity to make this right. We're happy to hear your system is running good now & we were able to turn your experience around. Thank you for trusting us with your home.

Same day update! I want to applaud Scott, the owner, for contacting me about my concerns regarding the labor charge for our last job. It was a disappointment that I had to have such an expensive charge on a relatively new unit. However, we talked about it, and he’s going to try to help. I appreciate any owner who listens to customers and wants to try to make things right. Thank you, Scott. I guess I don’t have to shop around for a new AC company for now.

Just to clarify. My response says that I’m frustrated to pay for labor for a warranty repair. I didn’t understand this was a warranty repair and I always am fine with paying for labor if a job is done. I believe my review explains my frustration with flat fees no matter how long the job takes.

Update today. The price that was quoted me was not only labor. They are charging flat fees for jobs. This is a change from the past with HVAC companies , but with more explanation and a little flexibility, I think we will stay with Scott’s for the time being. We’ll see how it goes. They still remain extremely responsive and professional and kind. This is worth something. They also come quickly when you have a problem.

This is a big change in my review for this company. Over the past five years things have changed. The company I used to trust I am now very skeptical of. They no longer charge labor by the hour so that you pay more for something that is more difficult and less for something that is less difficult. Just flat fees. And extremely high ones at that! Guess I’m looking for a new company now.
Response from the owner:Hi Karon, Thank you for trusting us with your home all these years. I can understand your frustration in having to pay labor for a warranty repair. The warranty from the manufacturer (not us) only covers the part itself. We value our customers and our community & want to make sure we take care of you and your home. We've left you a message & hope you'll return our call so we can make this right.
Chelsie was absolutely amazing!! She was on time, super friendly and personable! She was knowledgeable and even took the time to explain the problem and solution with our ac. I highly recommend them to service your HVAC needs!
